Practice Information

Welcome to Nidderdale Group Practice

We are a four-Partner practice operating from three modern, purpose-built surgeries covering the area of Nidderdale stretching from the western side of Harrogate up to the remote areas of Upper Nidderdale such as Scar and Lofthouse.

The practice premises have access routes suitable for patients using wheelchairs or walking aids and all clinical rooms are accessible. Patients may be dropped off outside our surgery entrance and there is an on-site wheelchair available. Each building has disabled toilets facilities and induction loops for the benefit of hard-of-hearing patients are available.

This website tells you about the practice and the services that are on offer from the Primary Health Care Team, which includes receptionists, dispensers, practice and district nurses, health care assistants, midwife and health visitors in addition to the doctors and nurse practitioners.  We also enjoy the support of a visiting podiatrist, physiotherapist, counsellor and mental health link worker and a Carers Resource worker.

On joining the practice you will be offered a new patient health check with the health care assistant or the practice nurse as part of our policy for health promotion.

Patient Reference Group

We have an active patient reference group which meets with the partners and the practice manager multiple times throughout the year. This is an opportunity for the practice to put forward new ideas, new ways of working and to get feedback from a group that represents our practice population.  If you would like to join the PRG, please contact Claire Ball; her email address is claire.ball3@nhs.net

Any updates following our meetings can be found on our 'Practice updates' page.

Hospital Waiting Times

Due to high demand and a backlog from the pandemic, waiting times for many NHS appointments are longer than anyone would hope. As might be expected, the hospitals have a strategy of prioritising according to clinical need rather than who has waited the longest, but both primary and secondary care are doing everything possible to ensure that patients in need are helped as soon as possible. The hospital have set up a website to provide information about their waiting times: My Planned Care.

If your clinical condition has not significantly changed, please do not contact the hospital or the surgery to try to bring your appointment forward as they will be unable to alter your waiting time or position on the waiting list, and it may contribute to further delays.

If your condition has deteriorated significantly since you were referred, a fresh assessment may be needed in which case please arrange an appointment or complete an online consultation.
