Mental Health
At Nidderdale Group Practice we recognise the need to strengthen both the provision of mental health care to people with physical illness and the quality of physical health care provided to people with mental health problems in our local community.
Mental health is about how we think, feel and behave.
If you are having mental health problems, you are not alone. One in four people in the UK have a mental health problem at some point in their lives, which affects their daily life, relationships or physical health. Mental health problems often develop alongside physical health problems too.
Caring for a family member, or experiencing a bereavement, work, financial or relationship difficulties can impact on your mental health.
Mental health disorders take many different forms and affect people in different ways. Schizophrenia, depression, anxiety and personality disorders are all examples of mental health problems. Diseases such as dementia generally develop in older age, whereas eating disorders and postnatal depression are more common in young people.
